Blue Knit

Apparently someone decided for it to still be winter...? I don't remember voting on that, but whatever. Not that I can complain, because in Dallas we're wearing bulky sweaters on a Wednesday and cut-offs by Saturday. I wish I was exaggerating. It was so cold on this day that we were literally brought to tears. But I know what your thinking, "And yet you're tights-less?!" Yes, yes I am. And coats still keep you warm tied around your waist, right?

I refuse to be bullied by the weather.

Pin Show Paradise

Who doesn't love a fashion show? The Pin Show is a fabulous Dallas tradition of celebrating and showcasing up-and-coming local designers. This year's show took place in an incredible warehouse space in the Design District and was packed with Dallas's finest. I was beyond excited to hang with all of my favorite fashion friends and even got to sit front row, all while pretending to be ultra fabulous.

I really love how this outfit came together, considering I threw it together at the last minute. The recent Peter Pilotto collection for Target really inspired me to work on my layering skills, and this simple lace tee fit seamlessly with this tropical print body-con. By layering a basic long sleeve shirt with a statement sleeveless dress, you can mix up your wardrobe and keep items fresh and relevant from season to season. Keeping with the futuristic vibe, I topped off my outfit with these fun metallic silver heels. Zetus lapetus, am I right?

I had such a blast sitting front row with the rest of THE FASHIONISTAS... I'm not sure what I watched more- the show, or the crowd.

Congratulations to my friends Venny Etienne, Becky Hollands, Rusty Bell, and the other featured designers. Here's to another great Pin Show!

Don't Get Too Cozy

Lately I've noticed that all of my conversations begin, end, and revolve around that how tired we all are. How getting out of bed is an exercise in it's self, and we can't wait to come at night and curl into a ball under our "hide-from-the-world" blankets. And as a sat here willing myself to write a post and work and be productive, I thought...how sad is that. How sad is it that at 20 something years old, we have our whole lives ahead of us to live: And we would rather just eat a pizza in our sweats. We live in a completely jaded world, where people work half of their lives to get to their dream careers, and then spend the rest of their time complaining, about said life, that they worked and dreamed and aspired to! I often find myself surrounded by people who are just totally un-zested for life anymore. And it's easy to hop on that Debby Downer merry-go-round. I seriously complained about having so many responsibilities for an event this week...seriously? When do your "passions" start to turn into "tasks"? I could never have imagined this life for myself 3 years ago. But so often we get too caught up in our mess, to remember that we are blessed.

Take a moment in your hectic, freezing day, to look around at your life. Because there is always something you can to choose to be happy about...even if it's simply a cute coat.
