Playing Dress Up Permanently

ME: Peplum Dress (Stein Mart), Mint Earrings and Belt (H&M), Wedges (Steve Madden)
GUSTAVO: Pants and Shirt (Express), Belt (Guess), Jacket (Tom Ford), Shoes (Aldo)

We all reach that age of style transformation. Its typically triggered by something, as significant as a career change or as fleeting as a shift in your evolving self.

As time passes, I feel myself growing up and maturing in the way I dress myself. Sometimes I look at the blazers in my closet and think is that all I'm destined for in my career? A different day a different blazer is no way to live!

Dressing should not loose its magic and mystery as our lives progress. To borrow from one of my careers idols Rachel Zoe, getting ready for each day should be like playing dress-up

*Cue the giraffes* #ClassyProblems
......please excuse my ZOEment.

Now how exciting is that? Whether it's pretending to be a grown up with your best friend (cue Gustavo Herrera) or dressing for something you've never done before. YOU GET TO CHOOSE. What role will you choose today?

I choose ballerina princess, every time.

She Works Hard for the Money... Just Kidding She's an Intern

Blazer (Lafeyette 148 via Nordstrom Rack), Spike Necklace (Urban Outfitters), Black Tee (Macys), Leather Legging (Target), Wedges (DSW)

Let's be real y'all. Having an internship is a great excuse to play "working girl" and wear cute/professional "outfits". Which I am clearly all game for.

This is my meeting to work to secret garden to dinner to night class... self. And I just have to say, $5 clearance necklace anyone? Too bad, it's mine. Ya snooze ya loose.

I was stoked that in the midst of a whirlwind of craziness to attend a meeting at my school with a local stylist. It's so inspiring to hear from someone established in the industry you plan to pursue. And encouraging to check things off your mental list as steps you are already making in the right direction. BAM.

Searching for deals, putting together looks, styling my friends, and mixing highs and lows: who would've guessed that some of my favorite past times could add up to a career?

Done and done. Hashtag. Hashtag.

From the Blue Door: Reflections

Dress and Belt (Elle for Kohls), Necklace (Lucky Brand), Boots (DSW), Watch (Fossil)

My love is Fashion.
Standing in my closet brain storming, going to classes and learning everything that goes into the industry, putting together outfits for my friends, doing silly photo shoots, hunting for the best deals, working events, dressing models, interning, stalking my favorite sites, and looking for new trends. I would not be me without fashion. I get to tell a different story everyday with my looks. Clothing is inner emotions, first impressions, and the self that you choose to put out into the world. Fashion is confidence. Fashion is a conversation starter. Fashion is lifting someone's spirit and self confidence. Fashion is walking, talking art.

My love is Fashion.

My life is Christ.
Everything I do is done in such a way as to glorify Him.
Just because I love fashion, doesn't mean that I don't love others more. Because I love fashion, does not mean that I am shallow or find my worth in material things.
***Fashion is not a package deal including a lack of substance and unbalanced priorities.

Style and fashion mean living my life to it's fullest.

Embrace your inner fashionista, because it is a gift meant to be celebrated.

A Dallas Definition

Maxi Dress (Stein Mart), Army Jacket (Macys), Boots (Target), Earrings (Guess), Roll-On Bracelets (Dillards), Watch (Fossil)

***A Dallas (spring): 1) A day that ranges from 55 to 85 degrees. 2) Rain and frizz inducing humidity. 3) ATTACK OF THE ALLERGIES.

In case you're wondering... I. HATE. SPRING.

I can't even lie to y'all. I'm not going to pretend that spring is full of sunshine and rainbows and baby animals and butterflies and flowers for days. For me, spring means running from bees, sounding like a walking/talking germ, kissing my natural wavy hair goodbye, and wearing the most bipolar outfits.

So grab a summer flowy dress, with a fall weight jacket and some combat boots and just call it a day.

And, Katniss braid FTW. All day every day.
