Holiday Hues

It's cold. It's Christmas. All caught up? I think so.
The holiday cheer always seems to drift into the new year somehow. Parties are still in full swing, and I get to prance around like a Nutcracker ballerina for another month (or two...). The tutu trend is one I refuse to let go of, and lucky for me it seems so do the consumer masses. Finding one that fit my shape, and didn't make me look like I was off to a recital, was not an easy task. I found this beauty at a local craft fair earlier this year, but ASOS, Urban Outfitters, and Mod Cloth (who is having a great sale) currently carry great alternatives. To make this outfit edgier for an evening out, I paired it with my favorite wedge booties and sequin tiger sweater. The earrings were a $3 deal from H&M's last big sale and add a certain "let them eat cake" quality that I couldn't pass up. Nordstrom Rack is my favorite place for amazing bags, among other things. This little metallic Coach baby a birthday present for myself, and was a STEAL for under $40. Its currently my go-to bag for all things festive.

How is it DECEMBER already??? I can't deal. November is my favorite ever, which is probably why you didn't get any posts from me: I've been out, living my life. Shocking, I know. Between concerts, events, work, school, and all the unexpected things life threw at me....I think this is the first time I've sat down. And then of course, my birthday! I am completely obsessed with mu birthday dress. After stalking it on ASOS for months, it fiiiiinally went on sale. If I could paint my entire life cobalt blue, I would. The sweetheart neckline is covered in delicate beaded flowers, which made me feel like a sparkly princess. In all honesty, I still have it hanging on my bedroom door for easy access staring. My friends are pretty darn adorable as well. We all went out to dinner, and everyone got to see my apartment for the first time.

Stay tuned for an apartment post coming soon!

Tie-Dye Forever

This is the time of year where life begins to fly by. In a months time, I have worked, moved apartments, started my last year of school, started a new job, and taken a road trip. And you know what? I'm exhausted. How sad is that? I can't even begin to think about my impending 21st. So just when I start to bury myself in boxes, art projects, and cozy sweaters, a sunshiney 80 degree day smacks you in the face and pushes you outside.

My now forever go to dress? The ASOS Body-con Midi. Its soft. Its stretchy. Its fits anyone and everyone like a glove. Which is why I just bought two shame.
And yes, those are tie-dye stripes... LOVE.

Maxi Skirt Style

// Denim Shirt (Jcp), Black Mermaid Maxi Skirt (Macys), Lace up Sandal (MIA), Earrings (F21), Gold Cuff (Anthropologie), Spike Bracelet (Nordstrom Rack) //

It's fall y'all! And what does that mean?? means its still 90 degrees in Dallas. Not exactly the boot and scarf weather we've been hoping for. But we will for sure take what we can get.
I'm a total maxi skirt enthusiast. It's super slimming and flattering on any body type, can easily be dressed up or down, and easily transitions throughout the seasons. (It's also great when you need to look cute, without shaving your legs. Just a suggestion.) For this particular evening, I kept it simple for some glam shots (stay tuned for a beauty post with some of my makeup must-haves) and a night in Dallas at church. The denim sleeveless is probably my favorite piece from the summer, and I can't wait to pair with cardigans and layering for fall. If you find yourself questioning how to wear a maxi skirt in new ways, some of my go-to's are: with a chucky sweater and boots, a sporty sweatshirt or tee with a blingy necklace, or with a statement blazer and killer heels. The maxi skirt, is your friend.

Don't fill up on pumpkin spice lattes before September ends ladies.

Is it fall yet? No. Do I care about what I wear right now? Not really.

So when school and life are kicking your butt, here are some tips on mixing some of your fall favorites into your never-ending summer wardrobe, in order to come across as "effortlessly fashionable when really just wearing clothes in general is a lot of effort and is the day over yet because I just really want to sleeppp"

1). Find yourself a kimono. I literally want to wear it every single day of my life. Little black dress? Leggings and boots? Skinny jeans and heels? Done, done, and done.

2). A good black tee goes along way and makes you look skinny on your fattest day.

3). Grab your short combat boots and trample out the remaining sunshine of summer. The season has become stifling.

4). Wear your favorite pair of shorts for one last time. White after Labor Day? Who cares really. Relax people.

5). Throw on an oversized cross for that hipster kid touch.

Tadaaaaaaaa... Happy "It's Still Not Fall in Texas" Party People.

Skullz For Dayz

When I was a kid, skulls were scary. It was the time of goth, when Hot Topic was a place to buy black lipstick, not Disney princess sweatshirts. We weren't even allowed to wear skulls to school, afraid we would all turn into little metal head monsters. My mom use to always pick things out for me without even realizing skulls were on it, which was followed by an obligatory whine

I tell you all this hoopla.....because I am now hooked on skulls. I buy them everywhere I go. I found this bad boy in the mens section, because we all know by now, they have the best, cheap graphic tees. But my favorite thing, is pairing them with something softer and girly. Like some Forever 21 peach jeans and neon jewels. So 90s kids, fear skulls no more. You won't turn into the scary kid in 6th grade who sat in the back glaring at life.

I promise.

If You Can't Stand the Heat... Stay Inside All Summer and Revamp Your Blog

That's how the saying goes, right?

I'm just going to skip all the long time no see exchanges and cut right to chase... Summer in Dallas is like living inside an oven. There's no better way to describe the suffocating heat that envelops our every day, leaving even the most fabulous fashionista scurrying into the shadows of air conditioning and trading in normal style standards for shorts and sandals. And I don't know about my fellow Dallasites, but a girl can only make a "shorts centered" ensemble so cute and trendy. Am I right? Regardless, I'm over it. So in order to prove I didn't live on my couch all summer, here's a little Insta' recap for ya.

Summer was filled with the usual mix of craftiness and designing, family adventures, food on food on food, shopping selfies, and time with my favorite friends. But for me summer always represents some sort of change. A shift within myself, my surroundings, my normal. Lots of things are changing for me, and this is only the beginning. Change is not always fun, but it excites me non the less. So what better way to reflect my life changes than to reflect change onto the blog.

Now you know I love a good deal, almost as much as I love sharing it with my friends. My favorite find of recent is Unidays, which overs a variety of discount codes to me and my fellow poor students!

In the meantime, can someone invent a way for me to tan, on my couch watching Bravo in the air conditioning?

Project Fashion Camp

This week I have had the AMAZING opportunity to be a part of the second Project Fashion Camp, brought to life by The Pro Artist Group and partners like my college. As a scholarship student, I've been working hands-on with styling models and directing photo shoots. Is this real life?! I know, its craziness, and I honestly have a hard time believing it myself. So in the honor of PFC, I decided to style our awesome shirt 2 different ways, both great versatile t-shirt looks and ideal for hot summer days.

Our week has brought us to a fashion show and competition Friday night! SO if YOU are in DALLAS.... come say hi? Buy tickets here:

Blue Beauty

Long time no see? I know, I've been a bad blogger. But you know what? LIFE IS  C R A Z Y. And ya just gotta deal!

On this particular 100 degree Dallas day, I was clinging to sanity solely due to the fact that 1) my best friend was in town because 2) we had tickets to see our beloved Mumford & Sons. So we were all geared up, hyped on summertime and sunshine, when we're informed that...........   our concert is postponed. After an hour or two of disbelief and candy consuming, we picked ourselves up. And cried all the way to the mall.

So I consider this my, "take that Mumford and stifling heat! I will be fabulous in spite".

I'm sad to say, that I only recently started wearing lipstick. And now that I've started, I'm hooked. Let the lipstick hoarding commence

NOTHING makes you feel sassier than the perfect shade of lipstick. People instantly look at you differently. Like, Helloooo my lips are just fancy today!

I think that is a sufficient amount of rambling for the day, yeah?

Crop To The Top

Blazer (Macys), Crop Top (Target), Midi Skirt (ASOS), Studs (F21), Wedges (Shoemint)

Is wearing a crop top to and interview wrong? ...OOPS.

Consider me crop top obsessed.

After growing up in the time of Dirty Pop and having been bombarded by images of celebrity bellies, I was a little less than thrilled to see this trend come back. Really?! Belly shirts? I AM NOT BRITNEY SPEARS THIS WILL NOT WORK. But when I found this amaaaazing crop top at Target, it called my name and true love was born.  This item if perfect to zazz up any outfit and add an alternative spin. Showing your belly is done, so be sure to pair these tops with high wasted items, and throw on a jacket or denim vest for a more "put-together" look.

Now if your going to interview in a business office or as a kindergarten teacher... I wouldn't suggest this. But business attire has drastically changed in the past 5 years. What you wear should not only be tailored to your career goals, but should be a personal reflection of yourself. Add some color, throw on a statement piece, and sashay into your future.

Walking into an interview for a job in a creative field, in a plain suit, doesn't cut it anymore

So go boldly, or don't go at all.
